"In all of my experiences
I have learned that to succeed nothing can replace a strong
work ethic, vision, dedication and genuine care for the job you do  and the people you serve."

As
a certified personal trainer, nutrition consultant and health educator, I've often wondered how to best measure success with a client. What is my contribution and what are its limits? I've asked these questions for close to 15 years, and today I believe I have the answers that drive me more than ever before...

My job is to educate and to empower you with the knowledge you need to improve every facet of your health. And this is why my private and group training sessions often include a lecture component. As a result, many of my clients today understand more about exercise than most personal trainers, and more about nutrition than most dietitians. Over the years I've seen clients improve functionality, reverse diseases such as diabetes, and lower blood pressure and cholesterol in as little as a few weeks through proper training and nutrition alone. And then these clients begin to educate their family members, sharing everything they have learned; the ripple effect in action. Education and empowerment is my contribution, and the limit of what can be achieved is up to you.

So how do we measure our success? Sure, we can measure it in a number of ways such as through athletic accomplishments, fat loss, posture improvements, gains in strength and endurance, and blood tests. But above all, I am most satisfied when I sense that you have gained the knowledge it takes to avoid what we call the "disease-care system." My studies in plant-based nutrition from Cornell University provided me with a strong foundation to further my research, allowing me to practice a holistic approach with a true understanding of how to properly interpret scientific evidence. In today's society, you need to know how to differentiate pseudo-science (industry marketing) from real scientific evidence that can make a significant difference in your life. To know better is to do better.

Close to 15 years and counting, I've worked with a wide range of the population; from children to senior citizens; weekend warriors to professional athletes; healthy individuals as well as those suffering from health issues; and I am very proud of the life-long relationships I have built with many of my clients. To see them continue to succeed over the years is extremely gratifying. Exercise and a healthy lifestyle enriches lives in countless ways, and so it is with great pleasure and commitment that I continue to serve to the best of my ability.

Let food and exercise be your medicine.

My
journey began at a young age when I enrolled into a martial arts school. From that moment on, Taekwondo became my passion and my teacher. I first competed on the local and provincial levels before obtaining my first degree black belt. In 2002 I was proud to represent Team Canada at the World Championships in Australia.

Later, I focused my studies toward the law enforcement field and completed my degree as well as my police school training. In order to pass the physical requirement tests I had to go through a specific training regiment. Like many people, I joined a local gym and followed a program to build my strength and endurance. However, after attaining my goal to pass the physical requirement tests and start my new career, the gym wasn’t giving me anything new and exciting. I was no longer progressing, my body was starting to hurt and I felt like I had hit a plateau. I dropped the gym and started looking for something that would give me better results and improve my energy levels.

In 2008, two years into my career as a police officer, I met Marc who gave me a totally different perspective on training; I immediately saw something different and unique. He worked on my weaknesses and got me stronger in order to make my everyday life pain free. Simply put, I achieved results like never before. In addition, I witnessed first hand the passion and work ethic that Marc brings to his clients, utilizing advanced training concepts to develop customized solutions for every individual. In all my years of training and competing I had never seen anything like it. I made up my mind that I wanted to be a part of it.

I began to study with Marc and received my certification as a personal trainer specialist. Bringing my experience in martial arts and police training, I am happy to be part of the MarkitoFitness team and look forward to working with you.
